Banksy – Street Art and Palestine
Adbusters has an interesting (too) brief article about street artist Banksy and his art appearing on the so-called security fence in the occupied territories in Palestine. Banksy’s work (derided as vandalism by some) is what all too little art is these days – clever, witty, accessible and political. It could at times be criticised as being facile (but then it’s hard to create a nuanced treatise from a stencil on a wall) – but in the case of simple issues such as the wall in Palestine subtlety is a luxury that Palestinians cannot afford.
