Forty Guns (1957)
Samuel Fuller’s take on the western is well worth the price of admission. Just that little bit different (she’s a woman with a whip!) but a clear genre movie all the same. It’s enjoyable and has enough touches to lift it above standard 50s westerns. And spot that Sergio Leone style “gunfight” with the cuts between the eyes and the holster – only 10 years before Leone did it.
