Mission Impossible III (2006)

Like James Bond without the soul. A Hollywood blockbuster which uses special effects, explosions, gadgets, fancy cars and exotic locations like the flailings of a cheap magician to distract you from the emptiness at its heart. Yet despite all that it…(read more) never quite succeeds. You can’t help but notice the poor dialogue, story and script. You feel no empathy for the characters. You don’t feel fear for them because you know that the good guys will win. The plot (such that it is) is obvious and the “twist” even more so. The only bright spot is Philip Seymour Hoffman who once again shows that he is an amazing actor in his only turn as villain (that I’m aware of). I just wish he’d chosen a better movie to try it in
