13 Rue Madeleine (1947)

Of interest for its value as a period document, but it has all the grace of a brontosaurus with its plodding voice-over, pseudo-documentary pretensions and war-time jingoism. The only relieving factor is Cagney and the realistic feel.

One Response to “13 Rue Madeleine (1947)”

  1. Excellent post-ww2 movie. Offers a real flavor of the period. This is backward look at the type of activities that ended the war that every viewer felt in a very close way. the docudrama approach is effective in drawing the watcher in. Today the movie still holds the power to provide the feel of the time. Certainly worth watching.
