Bad Luck and Trouble by Lee Child

This Jack Reacher book” Bad Luck and Trouble is far more successful than the previous one I reviewed – Nothing to Lose. While not quite Reacher at his best, this is not far from it – exciting, punchy with unexpected wit and intelligence (though not too much!). The premise for the novel is better than most – some one is messing with Reacher’s old unit and the surviving members get together to investigate and avenge. However the antagonists are mere shadows – no motivation is ever attempted, and we are never given any insight into their characters. The other major issue I had with the book was that the plot twists were too easy to figure out. A good way to spend a wet weekend, but nothing more.
